Hoax Alert | cidb Deactivation Notice Scam

An Email scam pertaining to CiDB Registration, believed to originate from Gauteng, is currently being circulated by fraudsters posing as a “consultancy” with the following text: -

“Your company has been put on deactivation notice, due to your failure to pay the statutory restoration fees payable in respect of the  contractor grading designation, In accordance with the construction industry development board Act 38 of 2000 and the construction industry development regulations issued in terms of section 33 of the construction industry development board Act.CIDB.

 We have attached.

1.            Application Form.

2.            Invoice for re-activation.

3.            status notice.

Please fill in the attached Particulars form and send together with a proof of payment.

Once the re-activation fees has been submitted, your enterprise will be activated and will stay active for 3 years. We will notify you in time to avoid the deactivation of your enterprise. The banking details appear on the attached invoice, please quote your reference number when making payment for easy allocation of funds.

NB.You pay to re-activate once  every 3 years.

If you need any further clarification contact us on the numbers below.”

Banking details supplied are not those of the cidb, nor is the “application Form” and “status notice.”

Members are advised to view such correspondence with suspicion. SAFCEC has alerted local cidb branches, who will escalate the matter to their fraud division.
