ENGINEERING COUNCIL OF SOUTH AFRICA | 30 June 2016
DISCOUNT ON ANNUAL FEES FOR REGISTERED PERSONS WHO ARE MEMBERS OF RECOGNISED VOLUNTARY ASSOCIATIONS
Recognised voluntary associations are one of the most essential stakeholders of
the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).ECSA currently carries out its mandate through 3 Performance output arms, one being voluntary associations.
It is common course that ECSA’s revenue is mainly sourced from annual and application fees. We receive no financial support from Government.
It has become increasingly difficult to embark on projects of strategic importance, as a result, we ventured on an exercise, seeking ways of improving our revenue streams and decreasing our expenditure.
On 24 March 2016, Council resolved to reduce the discount granted to registered persons who are members of voluntary associations by 10%, which will result in an improved revenue stream of approximately three million Rand (R3 000 000).
The discount for Professionals has been lowered by R120 and R44 for Candidates, the total discount approved for 2016/2017 will be R1110 for professionals and R380 for candidates.
