Civil Engineering Industry Annual Shut-down December 2010
The recommended shutdown period for 2010 is as follows:
Last working day: Friday 10 December 2010
Return to work: Monday 3 January 2011
All employees with more than 12 months’ service are entitled to 15 working days leave per annum of which 10 days must be taken consecutively normally during the industry’s shutdown period.
The public holidays (all of which are paid if they fall on a normal working day) falling in the shutdown period are Thursday 16 December, Saturday 25 December, Sunday 26 December, Monday 27 December and Saturday 1 January 2011.
Year-end Bonus December 2010
Clause 3(4)(a) of the Sectoral Determination, as amended, provides for the payment of 18 working days’ bonus to all employees with more than 3 months’ continuous service and who are in employ of a contractor in December 2010. The bonus must be paid in the December of the year in which it accrued. Where an employee has not been employed for one full year then he/she is entitled to a pro rata bonus only.
