Basic Guide to Skills Programmes
Anyone who develops a skills programme can apply for a subsidy. Disputes must be referred to the Labour Court. Based on Legislation in Section 20 & 21 of the Skills Development Act.
Definition
Skills programmes involve training that:
- is based on a job;
- counts as credits towards a registered qualification; and
- uses training providers.
Grants and Subsidies
Anyone who develops a skills programme can apply for:
- grants from a Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA); or
- subsidies from the Department of Labour.
Disputes
Disputes about skills programmes must be referred to the Labour Court.
