The THE FEDERATED EMPLOYER'S MUTUAL ASSURANCE COMPANY PROPRIETARY LIMITED (RF) (F.E.M.) has, for over 70 years, provided workmens' compensation insurance for the building and construction industry. The bulk of the larger construction companies insure with F.E.M. and over 4 000 are registered with them. Essentially a service to the insurance of employers against their liabilities under the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act, 1993 (C.O.I.D.A.), F.E.M. provides insurance cover to the building and construction industry, alongside the State's Compensation Fund, which is managed by the Compensation Commissioner. This insurance compensates employees or their dependents following injury arising from occupational accidents or illness brought on by industrial diseases.
